WebJan 3, 2024 · A spokesman for the Danish Accident Investigation Board told the news agency that a preliminary investigation shows that a trailer had blown off a freight wagon onto the adjacent tracks, causing the collision. The freight train involved in the accident is operated by DB Cargo, the logistics unit of German company Deutsche Bahn. Partnair Flight 394 was a chartered flight that crashed on 8 September 1989 off the coast of Denmark, 18 km (11 mi; 9.7 nmi) north of Hirtshals. All fifty passengers and five crew members on board the aircraft died, making this the deadliest disaster in Danish aviation history. The crash was caused by improper maintenance and use of counterfeit aircraft parts.
